The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Fuad Twal named Father Garret Edmunds OFM as Patriarchal Vicar for Cyprus to replace Father Evenzio Herrera Diaz OFM.
Born in 1950 in the United States, Father Garret Edmunds entered the Franciscans in 1977, was ordained a priest in 1982 and came to serve in the Custody of the Holy Land in 1998.
The Vicariate for Cyprus is composed of about 8 000 Catholics, a minority of Cypriots and a large majority of migrant workers from the Philippines, India, Sri Lanka and Africa.
