Church of the Holy Land prays for new election of pope

On Tuesday, March 12, 2013, as the Cardinals entered the conclave, the heads of the Catholic Church in the Holy Land gathered with priests, seminarians, religious men and women and the laity to pray for the election of the new pope.

The prayer was held at the Greek Catholic Patriarchate in the Old City of Jerusalem and was presided over by the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Fouad Twal, in the presence of most of the Ordinaries of the Holy Land as well as the Apostolic Nuncio to Israel and the Palestinian Territories and the Apostolic Nuncio to Jordan and Iraq.

Those gathered filled the church and prayed vespers together followed by the reciting of the prayer to the Holy Spirit.
