Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, Archbishop of Genoa and President of the CEI (Italian Bishops’ Conference) came to the Jerusalem kehilla on a stormy day in order to learn more about the Hebrew speaking Catholics in Israel. He was accompanied by thirty of his younger priests. After a meeting with Father David in which they heard about the history, life and challenges of the Hebrew speaking Saint James Vicariate, the Cardinal presided at a mass concelebrated with thirty seven priests (thirty from Genoa and seven from the Vicariate). The mass was celebrated in Italian with the songs and readings in Hebrew.

At the end of mass, the Cardinal warmly thanked the kehilla, praying that “the joy of the Lord be the strength of the kehilla”.
