Celebration of Our Lady at Deir Rafat


The last Sunday of October is the Feast of Our Lady of Palestine, a popular feast of the Latin Patriarchate that attracts thousands of faithful to the shrine at Deir Rafat.

On Sunday, October 26, 2014, Father David, responsible for the Hebrew speaking and migrant faithful in Israel, joined Latin Patriarch Fouad Twal and other Catholic ordinaries as well as the Apostolic Nuncio to celebrate the Feast at Deir Rafat. Thousands of faithful made their way to the shrine from all over Israel and Palestine.

During the celebration, the Vicariate’s own seminarian, Benedetto, read a petion in Hebrew and Filipina faithful from the Haifa parish carried the statue of the Virgin Mary during the procession. Father Rafic, responsible for the Jerusalem kehilla, was also present and made himself available to hear confessions.
