Nuncio formally enters Holy Sepulcher


In a beautiful ceremony held on Monday, November 26, 2012, the new Nuncio to Israel and Cyprus and Apostolic Delegate in Jerusalem and Palestine, officially entered the Holy Sepulcher.

Accompanied by H.B. Latin Patriarch Fouad Twal, his Vicars and other Catholic bishops and a crowd of priests, religious and faithful, the new Nuncio, Mgr. Giuseppe Lazzarotto, made his way through the streets of the Old City to the Holy Sepulcher.

At the Stone of Unction, he was welcomed by the Franciscan Custos of the Holy Land, Father Pierbattista Pizzaballa and the representatives of the Greek Orthodox and Armenian Churches. In his word addressed to the assembly, the Nuncio stressed that he came as a pilgrim of peace to represent the Pope, himself a pilgrim of peace.
