Vicariate young people gather to pray in Church of the Resurrection

A handful of young people from “Desert Flower” gathered tonight, Friday, November 16, 2012, to pray for peace and all those suffering in the Church of the Resurrection (Holy Sepulcher).

A small group of members of the Hebrew speaking, Catholic young people’s group, “Desert Flower”, gathered to spend a night in prayer at the Church of the Resurrection (Holy Sepulcher) in the Old City of Jerusalem. The small group, from the Hebrew speaking communities in Beer Sheba, Jaffa and Jerusalem, had planned this get together a few weeks ago. However, the dramatic situation in the country convinced them that spending a night in prayer at this holiest site would be an important contribution to bringing an end to the bloodshed.

Accompanied by Franciscan Brother Alberto and Vicariate seminarian Benny, the young people entered the Church as nightfall fell. They carry with them in their prayers all those who have already died in the violence, those who mourn them, the wounded, the fearful and especially young people like themselves who certainly deserve a better future.
