Monks of Latroun express gratitude

The monks of Latroun have addressed the many people who came to offer support and express solidarity in the light of the attack on the monastery on September 4, 2012.

Gratitude

Following the attack against our monastery, we, the monks of Latroun, would like to thank you, you who were so numerous in coming to show us your sympathy, your solidarity, your support. Often, you came from far away, individually or in groups, you telephoned us, you sent us written messages of support. You turned to different media in order to clarify what was happening and to express solidarity with us. Your many different gestures touched us deeply. They are a comfort and encouragement.

We would simply like to express our gratitude. We wish you and your dear ones all the best. We pray that God will keep you safe from all evil and protect you from any evil or injustice and give you peace and serenity.

We have discovered to what point the majority of the people in his country are good and humane and that is an immense consolation for us.

We desire and we pray for the eradication of any evil from the heart of each person. This is a long and difficult task.

We know and we realize that in each one of us there are tendencies and aspirations for good, justice and the respect of the other. We note also that each one has within himself opposite powers that pull him to follow his tendencies to egoism, domination, contempt of others. We know that the life of each one is a struggle between these diverse tendencies which are in us. We wish that each of us might develop in himself the good tendencies and silence the bad tendencies. This is the combat of each one of us, it is the combat that the monks in the monastery, in the monastery of Latroun too, undertake every day.

Be assured of our gratitude and our sympathy,

The monks of Latroun
