"Desert Flower" on Jesus Trail

Father Piotr reports on a Sukkot adventure that took place from Monday to Wednesday, October 13 to 15, 2014.

Three members of the youth group together with Fathers Apolinary and Piotr continued the tradition of walking in the footsteps of Jesus. This time the little group met at Mount Tabor on Monday night, October 13, in order to leave very early in the morning for Nazareth.

The shortest way might be completed in three hours, but we chose the part of the Israeli trail that goes through Mount Devora. After the spectacular eight hour walk we arrived at the Basilica of the Annunciation, where we celebrated the Eucharist. Father Apolinary underlined in his homily the unity of mind and body, showing the integrity of external deeds and internal thoughts.

After a great dinner prepared by the Italian community on Mt. Tabor and another short night we moved on Wednesday towards the See of Galilee. This time the weather was not stable, so we decided to descent from Mt. Arbel and walk along the sea shore. The Wednesday walk was also shorter - instead of 23 km that we did on Tuesday, we walked for 16 km to arrive in Tiberias, at the parents of Jenny and Elena.

Our trip concluded with a great family lunch at the "Amarena" store (the best cakes in Galilee). Many thanks to Father Roman for his technical help, to the Franciscans on Mount Tabor and to the Nimer family for their hospitality and love.
