New Vatican ambassador in Israel


After the departure of Archbishop Antonio Franco as Vatican ambassador in Israel and in Cyprus and Apostolic Delegate in the Palestinian Autonomy, a new ambassador, Archbishop Giuseppe Lazzarotto, is about to arrive.

The new Vatican ambassador, Archbishop Giuseppe Lazzarotto comes to us from Australia. He was born in 1942 in Itay and was ordained a priest for the diocese of Padova in 1967. After completing a degree in canon law, he joined the Vatican’s diplomatic service. He served in Zambia, Belgium, Cuba and Jerusalem before he was appointed ambassador to Jordan and Iraq in 1994. In 2000, he was transferred as ambassador to Ireland. In 2007, he was appointed ambassador in Australia.
