First news from Taizé

We have received a first letter from our young people, who are gathered for a week of prayer in Taizé, France.

Finally we arrived. The voyage was long but pleasant and Europe welcomed us with a spring climate. We travelled by plane, a little by train, enjoying the beautiful scenery, and by bus reaching the hill on which is situated Taizé. At the reception, each one received instructions to facilitate living through the coming week and these were in one’s own language. It was a great surprise to receive all the explanations and the map of the village in Hebrew as well as to find a Bible in Hebrew in the church. We really felt that we had been awaited and well received.

This week, there will be five thousand young people from all over the world on this hill. It is wonderful to see such a mass of people, joyful and full of life, who wait patiently in line for the meals or to go to church… No one complains about the long lines and the waiting. For us, used to the Israeli style, this is very strange.

The first evening prayer was very emotional, seeing everyone united, thousands of Christians, singing and praying in silence, a memorable moment.

We will try to send news from time to time but we assure you of our prayers and ask that you pray for us.

Regards from France,

Desert Flower
