Pope Benedict published the first volume of “Jesus of Nazareth” in 2007. It dealt with the life of Jesus as described in the Gospel from the time of his baptism in the Jordan at the hands of John the Baptist until the proclamation of his identity as Messiah and Son of God. The second volume of this work was published in 2011 and it dealt with the events during the last week of Jesus’ earthly life, from his entry into Jerusalem until his death and resurrection.

The third and final volume of this work will deal with the birth, infancy and youth of Jesus as described in the New Testament. The Holy Father spends his summer vacations in Castel Gandolfo working on this project.
