Although he is not home yet, long time hostage of Hamas, Gilad Shalit, is soon to be released according to an agreement that has been reportedly reached between the Israeli government and the leaders of Hamas.

The Saint James Vicariate for Hebrew Speaking Catholics in Israel, whose members have been praying for Gilad’s release together with the people of Israel and many around the world, greet this news with a sense of relief and joy.

Gilad’s father, Noam, said yesterday: “After 5 years, 1935 days and long nights, the government of Israel is returning our son Gilad to us”.

We continue to pray that Gilad returns home quickly and that all the inhabitants of this beloved land might know justice and peace, security and prosperity in our day.
