Second day in Spain

This time, Kyrill has sent us a report from Santiago di Compostella about the second day of our group of young people in Spain.

This morning, August 11, we were awakened again by the sounds of religious music.

However, the center of the day was expressed for me, and God’s hand is in everything: we visited the Galician Palace of Culture and we had a great time, however not because of the content but because of the bean bags that were spread out in the lot outside, probably awaiting an evening performance of some kind. I must emphasize that this was just right because we had had a rather exhausting day.

Before the long and difficult climb up to the Palace of Culture, we had continued the activities of getting to know one another throughout the morning together with the Spanish students. We presented the State of Israel and our kehilla to the group hosting us. We told them in a few words about the Saint James Vicariate (its history, its makeup and its special features). Each participant also presented himself or herself and the background from which he or she came. After lunch we met with Father Miguel, because of whom we are here. He presented the area, its history and some of its characteristics.

It was after this that we went up the monstrous mountain upon which the Palace of Culture is built… and they are still building. After a short visit of the exhibits, we found the beanbags and we rested on them for about two hours. I suppose that the Europeans were in shock whren they realized that we had settled ourselves into the beanbags… however it was really nice and very calming… Personally I felt that the beanbags’ being there was not coincidental but that God was really saying to us: “Take and rest a while!” : )

We went back down the mountain and had dinner. Afterwards, we went out to walk around in Santiago by night. I had better end now as it is already 1.15 in the morning.
