Christmas 2017 in Beer Sheba


Father Piotr, parish priest in Beer Sheba, sent a report of the many Christmas activities in the parish of Beer Sheba.

The celebrations started with a meeting with Santa Claus in Arabic. The families, who go North to celebrate Christmas with their relatives, came to the parish a few days before the feast (on Thursday, December 21, 2017) to pray in Arabic and after mass enjoyed a feast and distributed gifts to the children.

On Friday, December 22, 2017, the Indian Community celebrated holy mass in the Syro-Malabar rite. After the mass, the Indian Malayalam Association organized a festive meeting in an auditorium in the Old City with dances, songs and Kerala food.

On Saturday, December 23, 2017, more than 70 members of the Beer Sheba parish went for a trip to Bethlehem. Eucharist was celebrated in the Nativity Church, and there was time for a visit to the Grotto, for shopping and photos with the tree in the Central Square and Christmas lunch in Shepherd's Field (Beit Sahour).

The same day in the evening Christmas Vigil Mass in English was celebrated in the chapel in Beer Sheba.

On Sunday, the Christmas Eve Mass in Hebrew language was celebrated at 21.00.
