Hanukkah in Israel is vacation time for children, a good occasion to organize a children’s camp. Forty-six children from the different Hebrew speaking Catholic communities in Israel participated this year in the camp that run from Monday to Wednesday.

There was time for games and fun, but also for learning about the meaning of Christmas for Christians, as soon the Christmas feast will be upon us. Children made Christmas decorations and cookies. The weather was very good, so outdoors games and sports were so much fun.

Of course, the organization of the children’s camp was much work and so we should thank all those who worked so hard: the volunteers that offered their time and abilities, those from Beer Sheba (Hannah, Georgette, Dorota, Rebeka, Dulce), from Tel Aviv (Laura, Vanessa), from Jerusalem (Daniel, Ronny, Maroun, Ermano), the sisters (Sister Claudia, Sister Rita, Sister Jandark, Sister Kasia and Sister Agnese), the seminarians (Benny, Daniel) and the priests (Fathers Rafic, Wojiech, Jos, Apolinary, Piotr, Roman). They all gave their best in order to make this time special. Many thanks to the members of the Desert Flower youth group (Asil, Saja, Erica, Kate, Chiara, Rachel, May, Kate, Christopher, CJ, Alic) who decided to spend their vacation helping at the camp.

The event would not be possible without the support of our benefactors, especially Church in Need, and the wonderful hospitality of the Sisters who live at the shrine of Our Lady Queen of Palestine in Deir Rafat. We pray for all of you.
