New nominations among the bishops of the Holy Land


Two of the Catholic ordinaries of the Holy Land have recently been nominated to new posts in their respective Churches.

Archbishop Paul Nabil Sayyah, Maronite Archbishop of Haifa and the Holy Land and Exarch in Jerusalem was named as the new Vicar General (second in command) of the Maronite Church by the new Maronite Patriarch Bechara Ra’i. Archbishop Sayyah has served as head of the Maronite Church in Israel, Palestine and Jordan since 1996 and has played a very important role in the Assembly of the Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land.

Armenian Catholic Patriarchal Exarch in Jerusalem, Father Raphael Minassian has been named Archbishop for the Armenian Catholics in Eastern Europe. He has served in Jerusalem since 2005.
