Oscar for “Strangers no more”


At the annual Oscar ceremony for films this year, the film “Strangers no more” won the prize as the best short documentary.

The film tells the story of the children who study at the Bialik Rogozin school in south Tel Aviv. This unique school hosts many refugee and foreign worker children, some of them coming from very traumatic pasts. This Hebrew language, Israeli school counts among its pupils half who are Christian and Muslim. Almost all the children who study catechism in Hebrew in Tel Aviv under the supervision of the Saint James Vicariate are Filipinos who study in this school.

The film was produced by Karen Goodman and Kirk Simon and received four Oscar nominations and three Emmy awards.
