Twenty fifth meeting of the CPAM

On Tuesday, June 6, 2017, members of the Coordination of the Pastoral Among Migrants met at the Latin Patriarchate in Jerusalem to discuss the Church’s work with the migrants and asylum seekers.

Present at the meeting were about fifteen members of the Filipino, Ge’ez rite and Lebanese chaplaincies, priests and sisters, representatives of the prison ministry team, those working with the Israeli NGOs and the Bedouin and the parish priest of Haifa Tiberias. The opening prayer was animated by Father Benny, the chaplain of the Holy Family Filipino community in Nazareth.

Much of the meeting was consecrated to an evaluation of the CPAM meetings and a discussion of ways to improve these meetings. A number of decisions were made about the organization of the CPAM for the coming year.

Among the themes then treated in the meeting were the following:
- preparation of a retreat day in Advent
- planning of a youth assembly for Hebrew speaking youth
- children’s activities during the summer
- discussion of the new law that compels African asylum seekers to forfeit even more of their salary
