On Thursday, May 18, Father Piotr from the Beer Sheba kehilla participated in an interesting meeting of the Inter religious Initiative of the Negev. About forty of the future directors of education met in one of the mosques in Rahat in order to talk about the possible ways of collaboration among people of various religious backgrounds in Israel.

The event started with a short tour of the Al-Nur mosque. Sheyk Jamal Al Ubra explained about the basics of architecture and art inside the mosque and the participants moved to the community hall for the panel discussion. Representatives of Islam (Sheyk Jamal), Judaism (Rabbi Michael Graetz) and Christianity (Father Piotr) talked about challenges of multi-religious society with a special accent on education for tolerance and peace. Questions went in various directions from philosophy to politics but Amirit Rosen, who guided the panel, wisely moved the discussion back to the religious character of the meeting.

The Interfaith Initiative of the Negev is present also on Facebook here
