The Sisters of the convent are credited with saving more than 750 Jews and hiding them in their convent. Seventy members of the order were themselves deported to the concentration camps because the Nazis suspected them of defying orders.

The article also tells the story of Sister Magdalena, herself of Jewish origin. Her grandfather was secretary to the renown Jewish Polish educator Janos Korczak.

The mother superior, Matylda Getter, was recognized as a Righteous Among the Nations in 1985.
