At the outset of the visit, Father David, Latin Patriarchal Vicar, who guided the tour, explained that a number of years ago a Filipina in Tel Aviv, who lovingly cared for an elderly Jewish lady, asked him why this lady had numbers tattooed on her wrist, a clear sign that she was a Holocaust survivor. This incident motivated him to suggest that the Church should encourage a more in depth cultural, historical and social formation for the migrants who live in Israel.

The group, made up of thirty members of the Filipino community made their way through the ten halls of the museum, hearing a detailed explanation of the development of European anti-Semitism, the rise of the Nazis and the implementation of Hitler’s horrific plan to exterminate the Jews. They also visited the Hall of Memory and the Children’s Memorial.

At the end of the visit, the migrants could understand more fully the society in which they live and the important mission they have as Christian agents of love among the Jewish people.
