The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in Jerusalem officially begins with the Greek Orthodox vesper service in the Church of the Resurrection (Holy Sepulcher) on Saturday evening. However members of the Jerusalem kehilla, including Father David, Latin Patriarchal Vicar, Father Rafic, the priest responsible for the kehilla, and Brother Yohanan Elihai, a pioneering member of the kehilla, participated in the Sabbath prayer meeting of the Messianic community at Christ Church in the Old City of Jerusalem, led by Binyamin and Reuven Berger. The Messianic community warmly welcomed their Catholic brothers and sisters. During the prayer service, Reuven Berger invited Father David to say a few words to the assembly about the Catholic kehillot in Israel.

Father David explained also that this visit to the Messianic community expressed the profound conviction that the Body of Christ must ultimately be one and we must all work hard to overcome all historical divisions and give our common witness.
