The Catholics of the Ge’ez rite celebrate Christmas together with the Orthodox, on January 7.

Father Medhin ministers to the small Ge’ez rite Catholic community in Israel. He celebrates the liturgy and counsels the faithful in Tel Aviv and in Jerusalem. His busy day is Saturday when he celebrates mass in the morning for the faithful in Our Lady Woman of Valor Pastoral Center in south Tel Aviv and then travels to Jerusalem to celebrate the mass at the Ratisbonne Monastery.

Once every two months, Father Medhin travels to Eilat to minister to the small community there and it is from Eilat that he sent a picture of the members of the community gathered for the Christmas celebration.

It should be noted that the vast majority of the circa 35 000 Eritreans in Israel belong to the Ge’ez rite Orthodox Church.
