Statistics for Rosh HaShana: 7.6 million Israelis


As we approach Rosh HaShana, the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics published its new population census. There are more than 7.6 million Israelis on the eve of the New Year 5771.

The Israeli population has reached 7645500 citizens on the eve of Rosh HaShana. 28% of the population is under the age of 15. 5770900 are Jews, 1559100 are Arabs and 315500 are defined as “others” (mostly emigrants from the ex-USSR). This census does not include the migrant workers who are estimated to be about 220000 in the country.

The rate of natural growth of each population group in the country is: for Jews – 1.7%, for Muslims – 2.8%, for “others” – 0.8%, for Christians – 1.0% and for Druze 1.7%.
