Kaytana in the Jerusalem kehilla

Due to the cancellation of the annual traditional summer camp in Beit Shemesh, Father Pior, responsible for the Jerusalem kehilla, invited twenty five of the children from the Jerusalem kehilla to an improvised camp in the Jerusalem kehilla.

For five days, from July 23 to 27, 2014, a group of twenty five children and numerous adults gathered in the Saints Simeon and Anne House in Jerusalem for an improvised summer camp, to replace the one that had been cancelled because of the war in Gaza. Each day, activities included morning exercises with Father Piotr, morning prayer with Benny, games with Claudia, Benny and Father Piotr, a religion class or mass with Father David, and a long walk to a park where some hours were spent playing and having a picnic that had been prepared by Sisters Rita and Lina and Brother Daniel. This was a wonderful opportunity to discover the beautiful parks in Jerusalem:

- Day 1: the magnificent new water fountains in the park near Jaffa Gate

- Day 2: the Sacher Park, near the Knesset

- Day 3: the park near Yemin Moshe with its lion fountain

- Day 4: Independence Park

On the final day, the children spent some hours in the swimming pool in the German Colony.

On Sunday, July 27, the children participated at the Sunday mass of the Jerusalem kehilla.

These days were full of sun and fun, prayer and friendship and gave the children something to look forward to each day despite the terrible news all around. Among the children who participated there were children from Jewish and Russian families, Christian Arab, Filipino and Eritrean families… Seeing them play together was in itself a consolation as the adults continue to make war.
