The interfaith House of Prayer that was set up as part of Mekudeshet was conceived by a group of religious leaders, convened by Rabbi Tamar Elad Appelbaum. One of those involved from the beginning was Father Rafic, responsible for the Jerusalem kehilla. The evening on forgiveness was animated by Father Rafic and featured two musicians from the Jerusalem kehilla, Benedetto from the Saint James Vicariate and Tiago from the Fathers of Sion, both seminarians. They led those gathered in a series of hymns from the kehilla’s repertoire and Father Rafic introduced a meditation on texts relating to forgiveness in the New Testament.

Participating alongside the kehilla was a group of monks and lay singers from the Coptic Orthodox Church. They sang in Arabic and Coptic.

The evening peaked at the end when all present sang together in Hebrew, Arabic, Latin and Coptic and Jews, Muslims and Christians praised God with one voice for the gift of mercy.
