Kaytana for the children of the Haifa kehilla

Father Roman gathered together the children of his community and organized for them an improvised summer camp instead of the traditional summer camp in Beit Shemesh which was cancelled because of the situation in the country.

This year, our community house in Haifa passed through two important experiences. Just a month after the renovations had been completed with great success, we welcomed twelve children into the house for a summer camp. This event was also successful and was blessed with joy and peace thanks to Father Roman and Sister Mary Michael.

During the kaytana, there was the opportunity to visit some interesting places in our city that we had never even heard of let alone gone there. In this way, we discovered that there is a train museum in which one can learn the history of the rail roads in our country. We visited the Bahai Gardens and went into the temple too where the founder of their religion is buried. In the church of Stella Maris and the cave of the Prophet Elijah we met up with our friends from the Jaffa kehilla who had come to visit our city. We welcomed them to the kehilla housed and we had lunch together. We had the chance also to visit the Cave of Elijah the Prophet that serves as a synagogue and there Catholics have the right to pray once a year. WE also visited the Maritime Museum and the Printing Museum. Finally we had the chance to meet some very special ladies, Carmelite nuns who have devoted their lives to prayer, work in their convent, a closed, tranquil place full of peace and joy.

In addition to these interesting visits, we played in the house and worked in the garden. The children got to know new songs and dances through which they have another way to praise God. In the catechism and daily masses the children could learn something new about God, our religion and ourselves.
