Preparations for the Synod in the Hebrew speaking communities

Our communities are also participating in the preparations for the Synod of the Catholic Churches in the Middle East that will be held in Rome in October 2010.

Meetings have already been held in the communities of Haifa, Jaffa and Jerusalem and members participated in the discussions regarding the Lineamenta document that was published in January. Father David, Vicar for the communities, participated in all these discussions and made note of the responses. Clearly, our circumstances, as Hebrew speaking Catholics living as a part of Jewish, Hebrew speaking Israeli society, distinguishes us from our Arab brothers and sisters in faith in the Holy Land and in the Middle East. This also gives us an important responsibility to try and serve as a bridge in the process of the preparations for the Synod, giving our testimony.

Father David will have to edit the responses of the Hebrew Speaking Catholic Vicariate in Israel to the questions of the Lineamenta and submit them to those responsible in the Church for the synodal process. Anyone who wants to participate in the process can contact Father David.
