Peres visits the Pope


On Monday, June 20, 2016, Shimon Peres, former President of the State of Israel, visited Pope Francis.

"Great to see you! Thank you, thank you very much, indeed.”

The frail 92-year-old, former president of Israel, Shimon Peres, expressed immense joy when he greeted Pope Francis today. They held a very brief and cordial visit.

According to sources close to Mr. Peres, both leaders discussed their moral obligation to aid in the prevention of hate-related crimes committed by terrorists in the name of religion. They plan on continuing their efforts in working together to stop the bloodshed and promote peace, especially throughout Israel and Palestine.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Pope Francis hugged Peres before saying goodbye and wishing him well.
