The Way to Saint James (Santiago) in Spain

Benedetto, seminarian of the Saint James Vicariate, and Ronny, a young man from the Beer Sheba kehilla, are making their way to the famous shrine of Santiago in Compostella in Spain. They sent us a short letter while on their way.

Shalom to you all. Today we ended the first week since we left Israel and it seems to us that it is right to write to you now in order to share with you the wonderful experience we are living.

The dominant feeling is one of spiritual resourcing and gratitude for all that we are experiencing on the way from village to village.

We are careful to take regular times for prayer and it is very moving to say aloud our prayers in Hebrew so far away from home, in churches that are often empty, in village squares or in shady corners of nature.

Our presence here causes curiosity among the other pilgrims who sometimes have a hard time understanding that there are Christians who pray in Hebrew in Israel however our connection to these pilgrims is very beautiful.

Every day we remember you all in our prayers, all the kehillot and the children and we share a lot about all those people and things we have left at home.

Even though the body is under duress and the legs complain, we look ahead expectantly and with open heart we await to receive what the Lord has prepared for us until we reach our destination.
