Priests' meeting – June 3, 2016

The priests of the Saint James Vicariate for Hebrew speaking Catholics in Israel met on Friday, June 3, 2016 at the parish in Beer Sheba.

Present at the meeting were thirteen of the Vicariate priests, including the priests responsible for the communities in Jerusalem, Jaffa, Haifa, Nazareth, Tiberias and Beer Sheba, and both priests working with the Russian-speaking communities.

The meeting began with a time to share on the Gospel of the Feast of the Sacred Heart that was celebrated that same day. This was followed by news from the different communities.

In addition the following subjects were also discussed:
- the dates of the holidays of the different priests
- the imminent return of Father Michel Remaud to France
- a report on the progress of the seminarian studying in the Vicariate
- planning for the children’s camp in July
- planning for the youth participation in the World Youth Day in Cracow.
- planning for the priests’ retreat to be held in October

The priests then continued their discussion on the inclusion of readings from the Old Testament in the liturgy during the weeks of Easter.

The meeting was followed by lunch together with members of the parish who had prepared a feast fit for kings.
