Father David directs the retreat of the Patriarchate seminarians

Each year, the Latin Patriarchate seminarians studying in Beit Jala, who are preparing themselves to be the priests of the Holy Land diocese, go on retreat. This year, the director of the Seminary invited Father David, Patriarchal Vicar for the Hebrew speaking Catholics in the diocese, to direct the retreat.

The retreat took place from Sunday, September 20 until Friday, September 25 in Bethlehem and the subject of the retreat, on the occasion of the Year of the Priest, was "Lord, give us holy priests" (according to the popular Christian song in Arabic sung at priestly ordinations). All the seminarians of the diocese participated in the retreat, numbering almost 30 young men, from Jordan, the Palestinian Autonomy and Israel. Father David, who has been teaching Scripture for the past 10 years in the Seminary, proposed a subject each morning and gave an hour long lecture in Arabic.

At the end of the retreat, a seminarian from the Palestinian Autonomy, Bashar Fawadleh, went from philosophy studies to theology studies, a transfer that is traditionally celebrated by vesting the new theology student in the cassock of the priest. This joyous celebration was attended by Bashar's family as well as all the seminarians, their teachers and spiritual directors. Mazal tov Bashar!
