For the fourth time, the Filipina sisters who serve in the Holy Land gathered on Sunday, May 22, 2016 in Jerusalem. Sister Regina Cobrador from the Our Lady Woman of Valor Pastoral Center in Tel Aviv reports:

filipina sisters meet2016

“Next year to Jerusalem!” This was last year’s wish of the Filipina Sisters “on mission” in the Holy Land. Thirty Sisters from ten different women religious communities serving in the Holy Land participated in their fourth annual get-together at Terra Sancta College in Jerusalem.

A joyful fellowship pervaded the recreation room of the College. While waiting for the other Sisters to arrive, greetings, stories, and laughter were shared by those who came early. Father Andy Wong, sdb, rector of the Ratisbonne Salesian Seminary arrived with a pack of “pan de sal” for the Sisters.

It all began at exactly 15.00., with a short opening prayer led by Sr. Aurea, osb. The newcomers introduced themselves, followed by a brief introduction of the other Sisters from the different congregations (about 45 Filipino Sisters from 13 religious communities( are in the Holy Land).

Everyone enthusiastically participated in the group and parlor games facilitated by Sister Regina, spc. It was a competitive exercise of team-building but with so much excitement. The Sisters shared the sumptuous array of Filipino delicacies they themselves brought and more stories and experiences were shared.

And as all good things come to an end, the Sisters were all happy as they travelled back to their communities, in Nazareth, Tabgha, Tel Aviv, Cana, Emmaus, Bethlehem, Ein Karem; and full of anticipation for the joy that is yet to come at the next gathering and bonding time next year!

A heartfelt thanks to Father Athanasius Macora, ofm, guardian of the Terra Sancta College Franciscan community and the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate for their warm welcome and hospitality.
