Desert Flower in Tabgha

On Friday and Saturday, May 20 and 21, 2016, the members of the Desert Flower youth group gathered for a meeting in Tabgha, on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Daniel reports:

tabgha desertflower 5.2016

On Friday, we, the members of the Desert Flower, gathered for another meeting in order to prepare for the World Youth Day in Cracow. The meeting took place in Tabgha, near Tiberias. When we had all arrived toward evening, we began the meeting with dinner. After the meal, we took time to update one another on experiences from the time since we last met and to spend time together. Later in the evening, we gathered for night prayer on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. In the prayer, Father Piotr read verses from the Gospel according to Saint Matthew (chapter 14, verses 22 to 30). In this section, Jesus walks on the face of the water and the disciples see him and are terrified. Jesus calls to Simon Peter to come to him by walking on the water. When Jesus calls each one of us to come to him and walk on the water, the intention is a spiritual one. It means that by the help of our faith in Jesus we can get over the obstacles and difficulties that happen to us and to walk over them. After the prayer we ended the day.

On Saturday morning, we began the day with morning prayer and breakfast. After that, we went on a short work to Capernaum. There we broke into two groups, one with Father Apolinary and the other with Father Piotr and we read chapter 6 from the Gospel of Saint John. After the meetings, we began our return to the place we had slept in and there prepared lunch. After finishing lunch and having a short rest, many of those present went into the water. We ended the meeting with the celebration of mass.

Our next meeting will be the last before the journey to the World Youth Day. We are all very excited and looking forward with impatience to the day we fly off.
