Pentecost eve in the Jerusalem kehilla

Father Rafic, responsible for the Jerusalem kehilla, sent a short report about the prayer vigil for Pentecost that took place in the Jerusalem kehilla on Saturday, May 14, 2016.

pentecost vigil 2016

A beautiful and serene prayer vigil took place in the Jerusalem kehilla last Saturday night, May14, 2016, the eve of the Feast of Pentecost. Not only members of our kehilla joined the prayer but also small groups from different religious congregations and institutions, together with volunteers from various countries. The prayer was conducted by seminarian Benny from the Saint James Vicariate, assisted by Viviani and Yara from the Shalom Community from Haifa, who came to pray with us and sing songs from the musical tradition of their community. At the beginning of the evening there was a division into groups of five or six people and a sharing, during which we prayed for one another in order that each one might receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit that we might most be in need of. Most of the evening was spent in song and intercession (in various languages) and at the heart of the prayer, we listened to readings from the Old and New Testament in relation to the Feast of Pentecost. Father Michel Remaud delivered a homily on the gifts of the Holy Spirit that we are invited to ask for even if often we are not quite sure what we are asking for.
