First mass in Arabic of Father Roman

On August 21, 2009, Father Roman, responsible for the Hebrew speaking Catholic community in Haifa, was invited to celebrate his first mass in Arabic at Saint Joseph's Church of the Arabic speaking Latin Catholics in Haifa.

roman_kirilos"I am happy to be in your company today and to pray with you. I served you as deacon and now the time has come that I serve you as a priest. As you know, I am in charge of the Hebrew speaking community here, in Haifa, and a few members of that community are participating in the prayer this evening. For we are one Church. I want to thank God in a special way for having given us all one heart and one spirit."

With these words, Father Roman began his first mass in Arabic in the Latin Church on HaMaginim Street in Haifa. The head of the Arabic speaking Latin community, Father Kirilos, and all the members of the community welcomed him warmly and with open arms.

At the end of the mass, those present applauded and Father Kirilos expressed the hope that these visits would be more regular from the side of Father Roman. Roman promised to be available to help out. In the gathering after the mass, those present greeted Roman with the word "Mabrouk" (congratulations).
