Desert Flower meets in Jaffa towards Cracow

On Friday and Saturday, January 15 and 16, 2016, about thirty youth from the Desert Flower group gathered in Saint Peter’s monastery in Jaffa for their monthly meeting during which they prepare for the World Youth Day in Cracow, which will take place during the summer. Habib reports:

We began our meeting with an encounter together during which each one had to share something good that had happened during the past month. When we concluded this we prayed together according to the Taize style. We prepared dinner together and when we had eaten our fill, we went out to walk along the Jaffa Tel Aviv promenade and stopped to play in the park there. We returned late and went to sleep…

On Saturday we prayed morning prayer. The reason we had gathered in Jaffa this time was to enable us to participate in the solemn mass for World Migrants and Refugees Day. So after breakfast we set off for Saint Anthony’s Church. It was deeply moving to see the masses gathered for the prayer, people from every nation and language, coming to celebrate the beauty of the Body of Christ, the Church. After the mass, there were performances of song and dance from various parts of the world.

We returned to the monastery and prepared lunch and then after the meal we rested a little. After the time of rest, we divided into two groups and continued our study of the Parable of the Prodigal Son. These meetings are helping us prepare to go to Cracow and also to live more deeply the Year of Mercy.
