On Wednesday, January 13, 2016, Kuchinate, the African Refugee Women Collective in south Tel Aviv, had a Christmas party.

As most of the women who frequent the collective are of the Eritrean Orthodox community, their Christmas celebration is on January 7 and their New Year is seven days later. Therefore, the Collective also had its Christmas and New Year party in mid January.

Tens of women with many children from the asylum seeker community in south Tel Aviv, Eritreans and Sudanese, attended the event. They were welcomed to the beautifully decorated workshop by director Diddy Mymin-Kahn and Sister Azezet Kidane. Among those attending were also a group of five from the Our Lady Woman of Valor Pastoral Center in south Tel Aviv including Fathers David and Mako.

The wonderful atmosphere, tasty Eritrean and Sudanese food and the Christmas spirit provided a moment of relief in the lives of these refugees.
