The Holy Family Filipino Community of Nazareth (HFFCN) celebrated its fourth anniversary of organization on the eve of the Feast of the Holy Family on Saturday, December 26, 2015 in the Basilica of Saint Joseph at Nazareth. At 17.00, one of the Latin Patriarchal Vicars, Bishop Giacinto Boulos Marcuzzo, presided at a thanksgiving mass celebrating this occasion.

It was, indeed, gratifying to see that almost all of its members attended it. The Bishop focused his homily on the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, reminding the group of the formal opening on the Holy Door in the Annunciation Basilica of Nazareth on Sunday, December 27, while at the same time connecting it to the topic of family life.

Besides community members, some sisters from other Filipino communities elsewhere on the Land came together with some friends from Nazareth. On this occasion, the community also joined the campaign to raise money for the eye operation of a very young girl, Thea Molina, from Tel Aviv.

After the Mass, dinner was served at Casa Nova of Nazareth, at the end of which the community members themselves had their Christmas party at the neighboring Pilgrims’ Point of Casa Nova. Christopher Garcia, the coordinator, expressed his prayer and hope that the wonderful turnout of members on this occasion could entice more to be regular in the community’s weekly Eucharistic gathering at Mensa Christi Church.
