Christmas celebration in the Indian community


Father Tojy OFM, chaplain of the Indian Catholics in the Holy Land reports on the Indian Chaplaincy of the Holy Land’s Christmas show on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at Beit Dani in Tel Aviv.

At first mass was celebrated in Konkani at 16.00 by Father Dominic Mendonsa OP, and con-celebrants by Fr. Richard and Fr. Patrick. Coffee and snacks were served after the mass.

The Christmas show began with the lighting of a lamp followed by a prayer dance. The guest of honor on this occasion was Mr. Eldos Mathew, second secretary at the Indian Embassy. Other guests were Mr. Ramalingom Iyer, second secretary of the Indian Embassy, Fathers Dominic Mendonsa OP, Richard SDB, Patrick Fabian and Brother Morgan OCD. Mr. Eldos Mathew and Father Richard SDB gave Christmas messages.

What followed was a spectacular performance of carols, dances, skits based on the theme of Christmas in the Konkani, Malayalam, Gujarathi and Tamil languages. A good crowd of about 500 people were in attendance. It was a memorable evening for every participant and it put everyone into the mood of Christmas.
