Father Rafic reports on a mass of the Jerusalem kehilla in the Monastery of Saint John of the Desert on Friday, December 11, 2015.

john desert mass

On Friday, December 11, 2015, in the wintry cold of the early morning, nine of us from the Jerusalem kehilla went to the Franciscan Monastery of Saint John in the Desert in order to celebrate mass under the patronage of Saint John the Baptist and to continue our preparation for the coming feast of Christmas. A scenic panorama welcomed us and immediately the Sisters of the Cross, who help run the site, took us to the chapel, painted in warm colors, where we could have our prayer. After the mass, Nadine, one of the participants, took us to visit the tomb of well-known Father Abraham Shmueloff, who is famous first and foremost because of his recordings of the Scriptures that he left as a heritage and which many have used in order to learn how to read the Old and the New Testaments.
