End of October in the Holy Family Community in Nazareth

Father Bienvenido OFM, chaplain of the Holy Family Filipino Community in Nazareth reports on the end of October celebration in Mensa Christi on Saturday, October 31, 2015.

This year, fortunately, the very last day of October fell on a Saturday. Thus, after our Mass, at which only 18 faithful were present, we conducted the closing October devotions to Our Lady of the Rosary. Originally we intended to have a “living” Rosary outside, in front of the chapel. However, due to low turnout owing to difficulties in getting relievers in the caregiving job, we prayed the five mysteries of the Rosary around the Rock (reputed, in a late tradition, to be the place where Jesus and his disciples rested and ate when they retired to Nazareth once in a while). Alternately, after each mystery, we processed around the Rock twice during the praying of the decade, while in the subsequent decade we just stood around the Rock praying the Hail Marys. Each one carried a lit candle, which was laid on the Rock when we stood still. We prayed the Rosary especially for justice and peace on the Land. May Mary Queen of Peace intercede for us all to become peacemakers in our turn.
