Desert Flower in the Galilee

During the last part of the Sukkot holiday, from Sunday to Tuesday, October 4 to 6, 2015, youth from the Desert Flower group travelled around Galilee with a few priests.

Two days in Galilee – we began with the Israel Trail and we ended with the Gospel Trail. The expedition was guided by Fathers Apolinary, Roman, Piotr and another Father Piotr, who is a guest of Father Piotr in Beer Sheba and joined the trip. Youth from Desert Flower and other members of the kehillot participated in the trip.

On Sunday, October 4, in the evening we were hosted at Tabgha with families from the kehillot in Jaffa and Tiberias. We sat together and ate dinner.

On Monday, October 5, we woke up at 6.30, we ate breakfast and travelled to Mount Meron. When we arrived, we began our walk and reached Wadi Amoud, a route that is part of the Israel Trail. There we rested a while and some of us swam in the flowing but freezing water. Afterwards, we continued on our way to Safed and we stopped there. We returned to Tabgha and there the families from Jaffa greeted us with fish soup from the fish they had caught in the Sea of Galilee. The soup was hot and tasty. After we had eaten, we bade farewell to Father Roman and some of the youth from Haifa.

On Tuesday, October 6, we began the morning at 7. After breakfast, we got organized and travelled to Safed, to the point we had stopped at the day before and we continued on the Gospel Trail. When we reached it, we began the Gospel Trail by praying the rosary and we continued along all the way to Tabgha, remembering and smiling. At 17:18, we reached Tabgha and thus ended our expedition.

Two days in the Galilee, beginning on the Israel Trail and ending with the Gospel Trail, constituted a good and spiritual experience. I recommend you all to participate in these trips. They are trips that demand patience, which give you the occasion to know your identity and to identify with the companions who are with you on the way.
