Father Gregor travelled to Poland in April and May and was feted in his diocese of origin. The main celebration was in the Cathedral of Lublin. There a mass of thanksgiving was celebrated by the archbishop of Lublin.

In Poland, he also celebrated masses of thanksgiving in four of the five parishes that he had served in before coming to Israel. Perhaps most poignant was the mass of thanksgiving and the reception held in his honor at the orphanage run by Polish sisters where Father Gregor himself had lived as an orphan after the Shoah. It was in this very place that the recption after his priestly ordination, 50 years ago, had been held.
