Yohanan Elihai - Honorary Doctorate from Haifa University


Brother Yohanan Elihai, one of the founding fathers of the Hebrew-speaking communities, will be awarded an honorary doctorate from Haifa University on June 4, 2008. Mazal tov!

We are very proud to announce that Haifa University has decided to award our brother Yohanan Elihai an honorary doctorate. This honor is given to him "because of his personality so loving of humanity, the Jewish people and the Land of Israel and out of respect for his rare scientific etymological life work and his contribution to co-existence in Israel".

Among the other recepients are: American senator Daniel Inouye, the former Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wladyslaw Bartoszevski, the former head of the Mossad, Yitshak Hoffi, the chairman of the Presidents' Conference, Joan Walker, a Dutch professor, Marinus van Ijzendoorn, Rabbi Avraham Elimelech Firer and American professor Caroline Baum.

The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 19.30 in the Hecht Auditorium at Haifa University.
