An Israeli scholar of early Christianity proposed a groundbreaking theory that finally explained the use of inflammatory anti-Jewish language in the Gospel of John, one of the most beloved texts of the entire Bible. How such anti-Jewish statements could co-exist with some of the most powerful pro-Jewish statements in the fourth Gospel has long engaged the attention of many scholars concerned with the painful history of Jewish-Christian relations over the centuries.

Dr. Eli Lizorkin-Eyzenberg’s new book “The Jewish Gospel of John: Discovering Jesus, King of All Israel” just published by the Jewish Studies for Christians Press attempts to resolve this tension, proposing new ideas about the intended audience of this Gospel.
