St. Francis's prayer in Hebrew

For the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, we published a series of links to his prayer set in song in English. It is perhaps interesting to note that the prayer has penetrated Israeli culture.

Shuly Natan, a popular Israeli singer, sings a song called "Ana Eli" (Please my God), in which some of the words the Saint Francis peace prayer can be clearly identified.

It is also interesting to note that in a recent column (from August 1, 2008) of the Israeli writer and poet, Yonatan Geffen, in the "Sof Shavu'a" section of the Israeli daily, Maariv, he published his own translation of the prayer (to be found here in the Hebrew language section). He introduced the translation by saying:

"The full version of this prayer is framed and hangs above my work table and has brought me up to this moment encouragement and hope..."
