Praying the Rosary in Hebrew

One of the most beloved traditional prayers of the Catholic Church is the prayer of the rosary. The prayer contemplates the mysteries of the life of Mary, the center of which was her son, Jesus Christ. In such a contemplation, the believer participates in the events of the life of Mary and the life of Jesus.

rosary

There is a parallel between the prayer of the rosary in the life of Catholics and the reading of the Book of Psalms in the life of Jews, two ways to praise God and to remember his acts of love.

Beads are used in this prayer (each bead often being in the shape of a rose). A series of ten beads begins and ends with a single bead (often different from the others). Fifty beads are divided into five groups of ten beads each. Each bead constitutes the prayer: "Hail Mary" and the separate bead constitutes the prayer: "Our Father".

There are twenty mysteries divided into four groups:

The joyful mysteries

The luminous mysteries

The sorrowful mysteries

The glorious mysteries

This means that each group of fifty beads includes one group of five mysteries. In order to pray all the mysteries, we must pray the rosary four times.

Pope John Paul II, who added an entire series of mysteries, the luminous mysteries, proposed the following order to pray the rosary:

The joyful mysteries: Mondays and Saturdays

The luminous mysteries: Thursdays

The sorrowful mysteries: Tuesdays and Fridays

The glorious mysteries: Sundays and Wednesdays

To begin praying the rosary, there are a few extra beads.

One begins with the sign of the cross:

In the Name of the Father of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Then the Credo is recited:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Then the "Our Father" is prayed:

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Then the "Hail Mary" is prayed three times:

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Then the "Glory be" is said:

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

After this, one can begin to pray the rosary with the beads in a circle.

After the proclamation of the mystery, one prays the "Our Father" (the single bead)

Then the "Hail Mary" ten times (the similar beads). At the end one ends with "Glory be" before continuing on to the next mystery.
