Throughout the year, Claudia and Daniele run an after-school program for many Hebrew speaking Catholic children in Jerusalem, the majority of them the children of migrant workers and asylum seekers. This is an enormous help to the migrants parents who have to work long hours in order to provide for their children and cannot be at home when the children arrive home from school. During the summer, these children spend even more time in the Vicariate and Claudia and Daniele together with a group of volunteers have put together a program that includes a variety of activities.

On Sundays, Rosela proposes dance lessons. On Mondays and Thursdays, Daniele and Sister Sarah propose art lessons. On Tuesday, Sister Claudia proposes cooking lessons. On Wednesdays, Nomi tells stories. On Fridays, the children do sport.

There is also a wonderful collaboration with the Finnish Lutheran Mission in Israel that welcomes the children twice a week to their compound, where the children have more space to do their activities. In addition, there are outings to local parks and to the water fountains at Jaffa Gate.

This is going to be a fun summer! Thanks to the Pontifical Mission that helps make this all possible.
