Seventeenth meeting of the Migrant Pastoral Coordination


On Tuesday, June 2 3, 2015, those involved in the Catholic Church’s pastoral work with migrants met in the Latin Patriarchate in Jerusalem.

Present at the meeting of the Coordination of the Pastoral among Migrants (CPAM) were those working among the Filipino, Indian, Sri Lankan, Ge’ez rite and French speaking African communities as well as those working in the Prison Chaplaincy and among the Bedouin. Also present were the parish priests of Jerusalem, Haifa and Tiberias. The meeting was animated by the coordinator of the Pastoral among Migrants, Father David Neuhaus, Latin Patriarchal Vicar.

The first part of the meeting focused on the introduction of new members of the coordination and news from each of the participants who shared events and celebrations that interest all the participants. The new members include Father Bienvenido OFM, responsible for the Filipino community in Nazareth and Afula, Father Jos Kumar of the Fathers of the Sacred Heart of Betharam, Indian missionary working among the migrants, Sister Lerma CSP, Filipina missionary working at Our Lady Woman of Valor in Tel Aviv and Ms. Katrin Straub, a social worker now working for the CPAM.
The second part of the meeting was devoted to the following points:

- The formulation of prayers of the faithful in the masses that take into account the context of the Church in the Holy Land

- Summer activities particularly those for children

- Professionalism in our relationships with the faithful

- Developments in Tel Aviv with regard to the pastoral among migrants

- The Peter’s Pence collection next Sunday

- Managing finances and the pressures from relatives to send money home

The next meeting was scheduled for September.
